North American’s Sept. 28 ADDvantage Term Reprice Hinges on Application Dates
Online applicants needed to lock, sign and submit by September 27 to retain the prior rate schedule. Paper applications follow a separate signature-date rule.
North American Company for Life and Health Insurance changed ADDvantage Term rates effective September 28, 2026. For an electronic application to receive the prior rates, it had to be locked, signed and submitted by September 27, according to the carrier’s rate-change bulletin. Applications completed on or after September 28 use the revised rates.
That distinction matters to applicants whose paperwork crossed the cutoff and to agents submitting it: locking an online application before September 28 without also signing and submitting it did not preserve the earlier schedule. Paper applications follow a different rule. Their signature date determines the rate schedule, and North American says they should be received within seven calendar days. If a new application is required, its new signature date controls.
What to check in a revised quote
The bulletin covers both level-term and post-level-term premium rates for new applications. It gives no across-the-board percentage change or before-and-after premium table, so the announcement alone cannot establish whether a particular applicant will pay more or less. North American said updated rates would be available in illustration systems beginning September 28.
The carrier’s ADDvantage Term product guide lists 10-, 15-, 20- and 30-year initial level-premium periods, a $100,000 minimum face amount and a $65 annual policy fee. Available issue ages vary by term and underwriting class. Those are coverage specifications, not measures of the September price change.
Applicants reviewing a revised quote can also check the conversion deadline separately from the level-premium period. North American’s bulletin says conversion windows are shorter than the full level-premium period, subject to a five-year minimum. For a pending application, the first step is to establish which date rule applies; a quote for the chosen coverage can then show the premium under the applicable schedule.
